In the beginning...

"No one really knows how it began. Centuries ago, strange occurrences seemed to have happened and no one knows how, when or where it started. All that is certain is that fantastic creatures, both the benign and the deadly, appeared throughout the land. Treefolk claimed the forests, goblins and ogres spilled from the mountains, gargoyles sprouted from stone and merfolk came to the shores. Some wanted to co-exist peacefully with humans, some want to erase humans from the land.

Most humans stay away from such strange creatures. Most never quite trust even the most gentle of fairies, though many seem to accept them as trading partners.

But like a moth drawn to a flame, I was fascinated by them. Whenever I could, I met with some of them and communicated with them -- with myriad results. The last time I tried to talk to an imp, it violently tried to snatch away my spectacles though it was my nose it finally grabbed and tried to pull off.

From this experience I learned caution is of prime importance when dealing with them -- these non-humans. I want to know their nature, their society, their purpose. People have cautioned against my intense curiosity, but I never really listened to them.

If they are right, then I might end up talking to a leviathan while I'm in its gullet."

Same Place, Diferent Time

Welcome to AltHx or Alternate History! I am Jason, and I have always dreamed of becoming a science fiction writer. In this blog I'll detail a world that's foreign... yet strangely familiar. It's not elsewhere. It's else... when.

In a medieval earth where in the forests lurk vined treefolk, where robber barons waylay travelers and where ghosts stalk the night, it's a dangerous place to live in.

Be glad our earth didn't end up this way.

But if you are looking for tales of adventure, of mystery and darkness, you are welcome to stay.

Welcome... but be always prepared for the unknown, for this is AltHx.
